Hi everyone!

MFAW student Jaimie Li has launched a new brainchild, and she is inviting all Goddard students, alumni and community members to take part. (You know you want to say something out loud about all those many books you are reading!) Intrigued? Here’s her pitch:

Looking to do something positive for yourself and for the literary community? Now that bookstores and libraries are closed—and book tours and lectures have been cancelled—for the foreseeable future, there are fewer ways for readers to engage with authors releasing new work and share their enthusiasm for good writing. Our Instagram initiative for literary citizens @shelterinbooks is dedicated to connecting those authors with the readers who appreciate them!

Follow us on Instagram, share our initiative, and write a 250-350 word Instagram caption review of a book published in 2020 and tag #shelterinbooks for a repost! Becoming a better literary citizen–we love to see it! For upcoming titles, check out @amightyblaze and @debuts2020. It feels good to do good, so spread the word!

All the reviews are also being posted on our Instagram, @thewriterintheworld. So don’t forget to take a picture of the book and give us a glimpse into where you are sheltering with your books!

Jaimie Li is a Goddard MFAW student in her G3. You can find her on Instagram @jaimiezongli or teaching “Contextualizing the Family Story” via Zoom at Hugo House this spring: https://hugohouse.org/store/class/contextualizing-the-family-story-jaimie-li/
